Thousands of scholars to descend on Austin for MLA convention

“More than 7,500 scholars will hold their first-ever meeting in Austin this week as part of the annual Modern Language Assocation convention, with about 840 sessions featuring the presentation of academic papers, debates about literature and interviews with such noted writers as Colm Tóibín and Rolando Hinojosa.
Several powerhouse Latin American writers and musicians also will attend, including Brazilian singer-songwriter Caetano Veloso and the Brazilian poet Antonio Cicero.”
