Kathy’s Recent Activities and Publications Mentioned in “Inside FDU”

“Kathleen Stein-Smith, associate University librarian and director of public services, Giovatto Library (Metro), spoke about “Translation and Language Skills: Giving You the Professional Edge” as part of the American Translators Conference, which was held from November 4 to 7, in Miami, Fla. The related article has been accepted for publication in the conference proceedings. She also attended sessions on “Clearing the Way to Opportunity: An Introduction to Security Clearances;” “Technical Translation and Interpreting for International Organizations,” which was presented in Spanish; and “Global Talent: What the Fortune 2000 Is Looking For.” Stein-Smith’s article, “Foreign Language as a Global Competency in International Education: Beyond Foreign Languages,” has been accepted for publication in International Educator. Her article “Why Advocacy Matters” has been published in the November issue of the American Association of Teachers of French National Bulletin.”
